The growth in turnover was achieved due to the increase in container and metal handling. Container handling was 99 042 TEU (+31.7%), imported cars and special-purpose equipment 99 846 units (+3%). In the reported period export totaled 1 515 500 tonnes (up more than 2 times).
Metals and wire products totaled 1 094 700 tonnes (up 4.4 times). This tendency has been kept since the end of 2007 and is attributed to the growing demand for the Russian-made steel products in South East Asia. Container export totaled 38 240 TEU (+38%).
In January-May 2008, the port handled 702 100 tonnes of imported cargo (+22%). Container accounted for the
most part of imported cargo totaling 33 101 TEU (+30%). In January-May 2008, cabotage totaled 445 200 tonnes (+29%), container cabotage 27 701 TEU (+25%). Oil products in bulk totaled 160 400 tonnes (up more than 1.7 times). In the reported period Vladivostok Commercial Seaport handled 1400 vessels and 33 146 railcars.
