In accordance with the work schedule the vessel start work in FESCO fleet in March of 2006. FESCO ASKOLD is the first vessel in the high speed container ships series ordered by FESCO on Jinling yard.
This series is the first experience for FESCO to work with shipyards of China. As Evgeniy Ambrosov, FESCO President & CEO noted, «the Jinling yard is rather experienced in container ships construction including specifications we need. Vessels are under construction on the feeder container ship project developed by German designers».
Simultaneously with first container ship of 13.7 thousand tones deadweight launch, the keel of the second ship of this project is laid and the hull mounting is started. On the facilities an acceptance of the blocks of the third vessel, metal cutting and blocks construction for the fourth vessels of this series are being held. Delivery dates are planned on March, September, November and December of 2006.
Moreover, in the context of new container ships building program in 2006 three more 2741 TEU container ships which are now under construction on Aker Ostsee yard (Wismar, Germany) will join FESCO fleet.
This container fleet renovation program will make FESCO the largest container shipping company of Russian Federation. Deadweight of FESCO transport fleet will increase by 390 thousand tones and will total about 1400 thousand tones.
FESCO ASCOLD will carry 1080 TEU.
