FESCO Starts Containerized Grain Service

06 July 2018

FESCO Transportation Group has launched a new service for containerized grain transportation using its own regular trains and cabotage lines. The first 500-ton shipment was dispatched from Novosibirsk to Magadan and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in June 2018. By the end of 2018 FESCO intends to carry over 10,000 tons of grains through this route.

FESCO Starts Containerized Grain Service

Trans-Grain, part of FESCO's Transportation Group, is one of the largest specilaized rail transporters of grain operating 3,200 hopper cars. Containerized grain transportation service provided by FESCO Integrated Transport is another important step to develop FESCO's logistics services and improve their quality: it contributes to better grain storage, minimized losses when loading and transloading, as well as development of door-to-door intermodal shipment.

Due to the growing demand for imported grain in Southeast and East Asia, during the 2016-2017 agricultural season, Russia doubled its grain export to this region. FESCO is expanding its service geography and negotiating potential export shipments from Novosibirsk and Altay to China and Southeast Asia. The overall potential transportation volume to China only makes up to 15,000 tons a month.

The quality and speed of grain transportation are guaranteed by FIT's unique expertise in container transportation management and the use of FESCO's own containers and fitting platforms in regular trains Novosibirsk-Vladivostok, and FESCO's vessels providing regular cabotage services.
