FESCO icebreaker “FESCO Sakhalin” has returned from sea trials

Far Eastern Shipping Company on the 30th of April has completed sea trials of unique icebreaker supply vessel “FESCO Sakhalin”, built on Aker FinYards (Helsinki).

By the words of FESCO representative — Director of Supervision Group on ship building Yuriy Orlenko: «Sea trials of the ship are completed due to the amount of the set program. All specific powers of the ship (except icebreaker’s) are confirmed. The ship showed speed of 17.07 knots having propulsing engines power of 13 Mv.»

In the waters of Gulf of Finland testing and final checkout of all mechanisms and equipment of the ship in normal and extreme conditions of exploitation were conducted. Sea trials are the main step of checking ship readiness to the work, during which engines’ work, ship maneuverability, speed, accuracy of equipment and navigation are tested. A number of inessential remarks of supervision group, found during sea trials, are adopted by the shipyard to close them in process of completion on the shipyard.

Acceptance of new ship by Far Eastern shipping company will take place on the shipyard in Helsinki on the 31st of May 2005.
